Phone camera tech has come such a long way. I would have agreed with you awhile ago that phone cameras aren't good enough for the quality you may want but to see camera tech in phones where it is today I have to simply disagree. The other thing is even if you don't use your phone for professional photos it's still extremely handy to have a camera where ever you go, plus you can then do things like skype, snapchat, and tons of other things you can do with a camera on your phone. I have a gps driving app that I can use to also show where I park my car and take pictures of where I parked it. ![]() Ok, sure there is some bloatware in certain phones which some of it you can get ride of. Though, custom UIs are actually needed for more functionality and to make certain hardware in a phone to work at times. It also gives the phone makers a phone that is different then their competition that offers different stuff because people are not all the same and if everyone just has stock android then there wouldn't be as much to choose from. I'm curious, have you ever been to a concert? I'm not talking about some floodlit stadium. I'm talking about a dingy pit with maybe 2-3 coloured spots. I wouldn't be talking about this if I hadn't already tried using smartphone cameras for a variety of things. You seem to not understand what a photography job is. It is not about creativity or fun, it's about getting the result you need every time, meeting the deadline, and getting shit done. ![]() I'm not some hipster in a basement claiming to be a photographer because I own an entry level DSLR. I work for an actual newspaper, who wants to print actual pictures of fleeting events. ![]()
